Allen Stevens: The Problem Solver, is the story of an ordinary guy who is trained to the point that he has extraordinary skills.
When Stevens is going through basic training at Lackland AFB, he is interviewed by the base
chaplain of all people and given the opportunity to volunteer to serve with a special unit.
After going through special forces training at Fort Bragg, Stevens is sent to the CIA farm to have his skills further honed.
He and a female operative help a Russian defector escape from Hungary. Stevens assassinates an American spy who works at the Naval Research Laboratory, a drug lord in Columbia, a dishonest politician who was appropriating money to his own shell company, and a Russian GRU agent who knew too much.
His last mission is to Cambodia to kill an American who is a gun importer and supplier for the Russians and North Vietnamese. He’s wounded during the mission and his survival becomes uncertain.
Allen Stevens recovered from his wounds on the Funafuti Atoll, he and Bea are flown off the island to Hurlburt Field, Florida, where he is attached to the 1 Air Commando Wing.
The Gomez drug cartel sent two killers to Columbus, Georgia, to find Allen. After dispatching them, four more are sent to assassinate him in Mary Esther, Florida. Allen and Bea managed to kill them and escaped.
Allen and Bea were flown to Alaska, and then to a remote cabin in the Brooks Range on Burnt Mountain. The Russian assassin followed them as far as Fort Wainwright.
A Russian national told the Scorpion that a De Havilland took three passengers north. The Scorpion got a Russian bush pilot to follow the De Havilland the next time it went to take supplies to Stevens. Once the Scorpion found the cabin, he had the bush pilot drop him off a few miles from the building, walked within rifle range, and waited for Stevens to come outside. Someone was going to live, and someone was going to die.
Allen is summoned to a meeting at a cabin in the mountains of Virginia.
After a briefing, he and three former Navy SEALs are given the opportunity to exterminate some of Washington, D.C.s most corrupt politicians.
After weighing the dangers of the operation, the four men accept the mission.
They execute the Speaker of the House at a public meeting in San Francisco. Then the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee is killed in his D.C. apartment.
The group’s director sends a letter to the House Ethics Committee demanding that the Veteran’s Care Act be passed by a certain date. Their demand is disregarded, and a Senator is executed on his yacht in the Potomac River.
The FBI is frustrated because the killers have committed three murders without leaving a clue. Then a fourth Congress member is killed. It becomes obvious that the killings are going to continue until the Veteran’s Care Act is passed or the killers are caught.
The Solution is a classic action-suspense novel. While the story is fiction, it mirrors some of the problems America faces today within the corrupt Washington political establishment. It may have readers hoping the killers don’t get caught.
